The Cannes Film Festival is underway, and reactions to some of the highly-anticipated world premieres are starting to arrive. Today brought the premiere of Lynne Ramsay’s DIE, MY LOVE, which is playing In Competition and seeking US distribution.
Die, My Love is directed by Lynne Ramsay, from a screenplay by Ramsay, Enda Walsh and Alice Birch. It is an adaptation of the 2017 novel of the same name by Ariana Harwicz about a new mother who develops postpartum depression and enters psychosis.
The film stars Jennifer Lawrence (who also co-produces), Robert Pattinson, LaKeith Stanfield, Sissy Spacek, and Nick Nolte.
Here are the first reactions out of Cannes:
Jennifer Lawrence is committed to the insanity. She’s never been better, and she needs no help getting to where "Die, My Love" takes her. Lynne Ramsay, wind her up and watch her go.

DIE, MY LOVE: Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson are outstanding in Lynn Ramsay's frequently astounding new feature. While not her best work, still good as hell to have her back making movies that cast a spell as only she can 📽️ My #Cannes2025 review: www.thewrap.com/die-my-love-...

Adored DIE MY LOVE. Jennifer Lawrence and Lynne Ramsay was a dream collab on paper, and their commitment to this story of postpartum depression –frenzied, abrasive, often gut-wrenching – is astonishing. Arguably the actor's best work to date.

DIE, MY LOVE finds the ever-fascinating & endlessly talented Lynne Ramsay back directing two shattering performances from Jennifer Lawrence & Robert Pattinson. Ramsay’s unflinching vision, paired with Lawrence’s soul bearing, erratic volatility & Pattinson’s pathetic… pic.twitter.com/STInBUeTYK

DIE, MY LOVE is a stunning adaptation that explores psychosis and postpartum depression w/ heartbreaking intensity. Jennifer Lawrence is rotund & grandiose rowing the fine line between sanity & chaos. Robert Pattinson elevates every scene. An apotheosic return of Ramsay. #Cannes pic.twitter.com/SV0eIxpCTv
